Announcing Spring 2021 Musician in Residence: Odell D. Talley
Saint Paul School of Theology is excited to announce that Odell D. Talley will be our Spring 2021 Musician in Residence!
Affectionately called ‘Talley or ‘Bishop’, this anointed musician, songwriter, singer & director’s humble beginnings are rooted in Kansas City, Kansas at the Shiloh Baptist Church on 3rd & Waverly where he was taught by Sis Arlene Porter. From then until now, Talley has matured and grown spiritually and musically, leading to the start of “YESSUH MUSIC” Productions.
Currently, Talley is Director of Music for Swope Parkway United in Kansas City, Missouri. He is also an organist for Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist of Kansas City, Kansas. In other venues, he is lead keyboardist/Musical Director for the “Groove Agency Band,” “Caribbean Steel Jamaican Band” and “T-G-2” Theatrical Productions, Staff Member of “KCPMAA,” and a staff organist for the Duane E. Harvey Directors Funeral Chapel & Serenity Funeral Home.
As hectic as this schedule is, Talley still finds time to field original compositions for other artists, direct and train vocals for studio & live recordings, serve as music director of theatrical productions and concerts, organize music for various weddings, and answer the call to facilitate music workshops throughout the year.
And of course, Saint Paul School of Theology is blessed to have Talley come on board to be our musician in residence for online worship for the Spring 2021 semester.
Talley has a way of making everyone feel included and needed in the process of worship. The song “Prayer of Jabez” is truly a testament to this Levite’s standard of living…To God be the glory!
